The Town Board is offering a free bulk waste drop off service April 5th and 12th at three locations (Clifton Common, Veterans Park and Clifton Park Transfer Station), from 8am to 4pm. Residents of Clifton Park will be able to dispose of bulk items free of charge. The service was offered in 2024 and based on the popularity of the program; we have expanded the hours of operation in 2025. Please see the additional information posted for further details. Please note the eligible items for this program.
Occasionally we receive inquiries about a curbside Bulk Waste pickup as the Town had offered in the past. Unfortunately, due to the significant increase in the cost of offering this non-core governmental service and the inability to receive competing bids due mainly to a lack of workforce, the Town has not conducted the curbside service in recent years. The Bulk Waste drop off service was instituted last year as an opportunity to continue to offer an additional option to dispose of unwanted items for free. Like all organizations, we have experienced rising costs in all our core governmental services.
Town personnel and volunteers will be present at each site to assist.
We offer many services throughout the year at the Clifton Park Transfer Station. We will soon provide reminders of the services that are available for disposal and recycling at the facility.
Twin Bridges to Begin Curbside Pick-Up April 3rd
Twin Bridges will be conducting curbside yard waste pick-up for Clifton Park residents in 2023. The service will be offered beginning April 3rd through the end of November, weather permitting.
“The Town has offered this valuable service to Clifton Park residents for many years, said Town Supervisor Phil Barrett. This year the Town is partnering with Twin Bridges Waste and Recycling to ensure yard waste is removed, processed, and recycled timely and professionally”.
Leaves, grass clippings, tree and shrub trimmings and other brush will be collected in brown paper yard waste bags only. The yard waste along with the bags are recycled through a processing system. No yard waste will be collected from garbage cans or any other containers. Small, bundled brush that is less than four feet long and three feet in diameter will also be collected. Bundles need to be tied to allow for easy pick-up and disposal.
Items that will not be collected include animal waste, garden debris, tree or shrub roots of any type, tree stumps or logs, waste products including household garbage, pressure treated wood, railroad ties, building debris, plastic, metal, or other foreign materials.
Twin Bridges will be working their way through the Town weekly. Residents are encouraged to have their yard waste ready for pickup by Sunday evening. At various times of the year when yard waste debris pick up is heavier than normal, sections of Town may take longer to collect. Please do not cover the bags with tarps. Bags must be visible on the curb.
The Town Transfer Station also accepts yard waste all year long during regular business hours from Clifton Park residents only. No permit is needed but an ID is required. Extended hours at the Transfer Station for Spring Clean Up / Green Up activities will include Sundays April 30th and May 7th 10am-4pm for the collection of leaves and brush only. For many years, the town has been on the forefront of offering a collection point for the proper disposal and recycling of electronics. The structure of collecting electronic waste is changing throughout New York State beginning January 1, 2023. It is important to note, the new structure of the collection program ensures the Town is no longer charged for picking up the electronic products. FAQ's
What is the charge for this service?
NONE– This is a FREE service for Clifton Park & Halfmoon residents only provided by the Town of Clifton Park to better serve its Town of Clifton Park residents.
How can I dispose of my left over latex paint?
Dry unwanted latex paint outdoors, away from children and animals and discard with the household trash in a plastic lined box. Remove paint can lids so the trash removers can see that the cans are empty or the paint is dry. Add kitty litter, sawdust, or sand to completely dry the paint out. Once dry, it can be disposed in your regular household garbage.
WHAT TO DO WITH HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE?
The Town of Clifton Park hosts a Household Hazardous Waste Day every other year in September.
The next Clifton Park Household Hazardous Waste Day is scheduled for September 2025.
Please be advised, the Transfer Station will be replacing the trash compactors beginning tomorrow. One of the two compactors will remain open at all times during the replacement process. Due to this project, there may be times when you will have to wait longer than usual to drop off garbage.
There will be an additional dumpster for garbage located on site. We thank you for your patience as we improve the Transfer Station.

Saratoga County and the Town are working together on a project to improve the infrastructure on a portion of the Clifton Park Transfer Station. The work will take place in the Recycling Center where the largest building will be removed and significant improvements will be made to the foundation of the recycling area.
The contractors estimate the end date for the foundation work will be the end of July. This time frame can be affected by weather and if it is determined more work is required as they progress with the project. During the rebuilding of the two recycling buildings, we plan to reopen the road leading to the recycling center.
Work is expected to begin on Tuesday, June 10th. While the work is underway the location of recycling bins will be changed and the traffic pattern will be altered to allow for these improvements to occur. Please refer to the maps for new locations and traffic flow. We appreciate your patience during this process and will keep you updated as the project moves forward.
